Processing notice — demonstration requests

The section 18 notice for the enquiry form on this site: what is collected, why, on what basis, who receives it, where it is stored, and how long it is kept.

The notice, in short

Section 18 of POPIA requires that, when personal information is collected from you, you are told certain specific things at that moment. This is that notice, for the one form on this site. It is deliberately short and specific; the privacy policy carries the wider picture.

What the form collects

Required, because without them we cannot arrange anything:

  • the club's name;
  • your name;
  • your role at the club;
  • your email address;
  • your contact number.

Optional, and the form works without them:

  • the size of the course;
  • a short description of what the club runs today.

Supplying the required fields is voluntary in the sense that nothing compels you to enquire. If you leave one out, the form will tell you, and we will not be able to arrange a demonstration.

Who receives it

Andrew Els reads every enquiry. It is otherwise handled only by the providers that operate this site and its systems on our instruction: Vercel (website hosting), Railway (application hosting), Supabase (database) and Resend (email delivery). None of them uses it for any purpose of their own.

It is not sold, and it is not shared for anyone else's marketing.

Where it goes

The enquiry is stored on a database hosted in the European Union, in Frankfurt, Germany. That is a cross-border transfer under section 72 of POPIA. The receiving jurisdiction is subject to the General Data Protection Regulation, which upholds principles substantially similar to POPIA's, and the transfer is in any event necessary to take the steps you asked us to take.

What you can require of us

You may ask what we hold, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to our processing — at any time, free of charge, by writing to andrew@digitalarmy.ai. We answer within thirty days.

You may also complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa. Doing so does not require you to come to us first.
